The all-copper .308 built for deer season.

This all-copper .308 Winchester ammo is built to put deer down fast, with the power to take up to elk-sized game. It's two bullets in one, bridging the gap in terminal performance between a bonded bullet and a solid copper bullet. Our new AL-HV projectile is a lead-free copper bullet machined in Michigan: it expands rapidly, opening to more frontal surface area than a typical copper bullet, similar to that of a bonded bullet but with no lead, then holds together and retains nearly all its weight like only solid copper can.

The AL-HV tip, precision-machined from aluminum, delivers match-grade accuracy that keeps groups tight and consistent, and it drives one of the lowest expansion velocities of any copper bullet. That low expansion floor keeps the bullet opening up out at distance, where ordinary copper quits. A boat-tail base raises the ballistic coefficient for flatter, wind-resistant flight, and at 132 grains and 3,050 fps it shoots flat and hits hard. If you want the best 308 hunting ammo for deer, it penetrates deep, expands like a bonded bullet, and stays legal in lead-free zones.

Built by Hand in Michigan

Every AL-HV bullet is precision-machined from solid copper, individually assembled, and inspected by hand before it is loaded into the round. Mass-produced ammo comes off the line by the million. These are built and checked one at a time, by people who hunt with them.

Calculated at a 225-yard zero and 1.5" sight height in standard conditions. The 24" barrel uses our measured 3,050 fps; 16, 18, 20, 22, and 26" velocities are estimated at roughly 25 fps per inch. Real-world results vary with your rifle, barrel, and conditions.

AL-HV Tip Technology

The AL-HV tip is the heart of this bullet. Precision-machined from aluminum, not molded from plastic, it solves a weak point of plastic-tipped hunting rounds: a tip that can deform as it feeds from the magazine into the chamber or from handling. The AL-HV holds its shape from one round to the next, so each round flies true from shot to shot. The result is a bullet that delivers match-grade accuracy, reacts like a bonded bullet on impact, and drives deep like a copper bullet.

✓ Consistency
The aluminum AL-HV tip resists deforming as it feeds from the magazine into the chamber or from handling, the way a plastic tip can. It holds its shape from one round to the next, so every bullet keeps the same ballistic coefficient and flies consistently.
✓ Performance
The tip lets a lighter, faster bullet punch above its weight class, pairing aggressive expansion with the deep penetration you'd expect from a heavier grain.
✓ Precision
Every tip is precision-machined to tight tolerances, not molded like a plastic tip. That repeatability from round to round is what builds match-grade accuracy into a hunting bullet.
✓ Penetration
On impact it reacts like a bonded bullet, holding together through hide and bone, yet it drives deep like a solid-copper bullet.
✓ Expansion
Recovered bullets measure roughly .570" across at 300 yards, nearly double bore diameter. That huge frontal area dumps energy fast and cuts a wide wound channel for clean, humane kills.
★★★★★

“In my match rifle the ammo shot one ragged hole at 100yds prone. BCB 308win 132AIHV ammo shot 0.5moa groups as verified by Silver Mountain Electronic Targets at ISRA 300yd Range and Shotmarker Electronic Targets at ASC 600yd Range.”

Already shooting premium copper?

You know the trade-off: most monometal bullets need high impact speed to open, so they expand hard up close and start to pencil through once the round slows downrange. The AL-HV bullet is built to open at lower velocities than traditional copper bullets, so you get reliable expansion from the muzzle out to distance. Same deep penetration and weight retention you expect from a solid copper bullet, without trading away terminal performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this 308 ammo good for deer hunting?

Yes. This is purpose-built deer ammo. The 132-grain all-copper bullet is tuned to open at a lower velocity than most copper loads, so it expands reliably on whitetail and mule deer from close range out to the far end of a field. You get a wide wound channel, deep penetration, and full weight retention, with no lead fragments left in the meat.

What game can I hunt with the 132-grain load?

It is built first for deer-sized game: whitetail, mule deer, and antelope, where it performs at any practical hunting range. With proper shot placement at moderate range, it is also capable on bear and elk, though for the largest game we recommend staying inside ranges where the bullet retains the energy needed for deep penetration.

Is all-copper 308 ammo legal in lead-free hunting zones?

Yes. Every round is lead-free, so it is legal anywhere non-lead ammunition is required.

What is the effective range of this 308 hunting ammo?

The bullet is designed to keep expanding at lower velocities than typical copper, which extends its usable range. The ballistic table above shows velocity, energy, and drop for your barrel length out to 500 yards. As a general guide it carries enough energy and expansion for deer well past 400 yards from a 24-inch barrel, though your real effective range depends on your rifle, your zero, and your own proficiency.

Will the 132-grain bullet stabilize and shoot accurately in my rifle?

Yes. The 132-grain all-copper boat-tail stabilizes in standard 308 Winchester twist rates of 1:10 and 1:12, which covers the vast majority of bolt guns and AR-10 platform rifles. The precision-machined AL-HV tip keeps the bullet shape consistent from round to round.

Why choose copper over a traditional lead-core bullet?

Copper holds together. A cup-and-core lead bullet can shed weight and fragment on impact, while this solid copper bullet retains nearly all of its weight, drives deep, and leaves no lead in the animal. You get reliable expansion, a clean wound channel, and meat you can feel good about feeding your family.

All Copper. Zero Compromise. Machined in Michigan.
