The all-copper .308 bullet, built for handloaders.
The AL-HV is two bullets in one: the wide, rapid expansion of a premium bonded bullet, with the deep penetration and near-total weight retention only a monolithic delivers. With no lead core to shed and no jacket to separate, it expands at one of the lowest velocities of any copper bullet on the market, so it keeps opening up downrange where ordinary copper quits. If you handload .308 Winchester or any .30 caliber cartridge and want a lead-free bullet that expands like a bonded bullet and holds together like copper, this is your projectile. The AL-HV is a precision-machined, 100% copper, monolithic .308" bullet at 132 grains, sold as a component so you can build the round your way. Designed for deer to elk sized game. Suitable cartridges
Loads in any .30 caliber (.308") cartridge with a twist rate that stabilizes a 132-grain monolithic bullet.
Built by Hand in Michigan
Every AL-HV bullet is precision CNC machined from solid copper, individually assembled, and inspected by hand before it goes in the box. Mass-produced bullets come off the line by the million. These are built and checked one at a time, by people who hunt with them.

AL-HV Tip Technology
A precision-machined aluminum tip, not a molded plastic one, gives this bullet match-grade shape consistency from one round to the next, a high ballistic coefficient that holds downrange, and reliable expansion at low velocity.
Already loading premium copper?
You know the trade-off: most monometal bullets need high impact speed to open, so they expand hard up close and start to pencil through once the bullet slows downrange. The AL-HV bullet is built to open at a lower velocity when compared to other copper bullets, so you get reliable expansion from the muzzle out to the distances where ordinary copper quits.
For the Handloader
- ✓ Seating depth. Like most monolithic copper bullets, the AL-HV usually shoots best seated off the lands. Start around .050" of jump and adjust from there to find your rifle's node.
- ✓ Load data. Use published load data for a 130 to 135-grain monolithic / all-copper .308 bullet. Always start at the minimum charge and work up while watching for pressure. Copper bullets have a longer bearing surface than lead, so treat them as their own bullet, not a drop-in for a lead bullet of the same weight.
- ✓ Twist rate. Stabilizes in standard .308 Winchester twists of 1:10" and 1:12", which covers the vast majority of bolt guns and AR-10 platform rifles.
- ✓ Expansion window. Reliable expansion down to 1,525 fps, one of the lowest thresholds in copper, means this bullet stays effective at long range and in lower-velocity .30 caliber cartridges, not just at magnum speeds.
- ✓ Buy a test box or stock up. Offered in 25, 50, 100, and 200, so you can work up a load with a small box and load up a season's worth once you find your node.
Reloading is inherently dangerous and is done at your own risk. Always consult current published load data, start at the minimum charge, and work up carefully. Bear Creek Ballistics is not responsible for loads developed by the handloader.

Loaded 308 AL-HV Ammo Coming SoonFrequently Asked Questions
Is this loaded ammunition or just the bullet?
This is the bullet (projectile) only, a reloading component for handloaders. It is not loaded ammunition and contains no powder, primer, or case. It is the same AL-HV bullet we load into our 308 Winchester AL-HV cartridge.
What twist rate do I need?
The 132-grain all-copper AL-HV stabilizes in standard .308 Winchester twist rates of 1:12" or faster, which covers most bolt-action and AR-10 rifles.
What load data should I use?
Use current published load data for a 130 to 135-grain monolithic or all-copper .308 bullet from a reputable manual or powder manufacturer. Start at the minimum listed charge and work up while watching for pressure signs. Because copper bullets have a longer bearing surface than lead, do not substitute lead-bullet data of the same weight.
How deep should I seat it?
Most monolithic copper bullets, including this one, shoot best seated off the lands. A good starting point is about .050" of jump, then adjust in small steps to find the most accurate seating depth in your rifle.
Which cartridges can I load it in?
Any .30 caliber (.308") cartridge with a twist rate that stabilizes a 132-grain monolithic bullet. Common choices include .308 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, .300 Win Mag, .300 WSM, and supersonic .300 Blackout.
Are these bullets legal in lead-free hunting zones?
Yes. The AL-HV bullet is lead-free, so ammunition you load with it is legal anywhere non-lead projectiles are required, including California condor zones and other restricted areas.
