450 Bushmaster HV
The BC 450 Bushmaster 240g HV ammunition shot from a Ruger American Gen II was an excellent choice for last years Iowa deer hunt. The initial range sessions yielded consistent sub MOA groups at 100yds. In the field a 186 yd shot, high leg kick and piled up 60 yds later, eating well. This year I have hand loaded the 240 HV bullet to the Bear Creek spec sheet and I’m impressed with the results. 2480 FPS at the muzzle with a SD of 10.1, .88 MOA groups at 100yds with a 250yd zero. Point blank range of 291yd and max ord of 5.6” at 150yds. Awesome round, the ballistics are comparable to that of a 358 Norma Magnum -250g.
