Most 350 Legend loads are built to fit a magazine. This one is not. Loaded long at 2.430" with our pointed HV tip, this is 350 Legend single shot ammo, engineered around the CVA Scout, CVA Hunter, Traditions, and TC. Every round carries our own precision-machined solid copper bullet, lead-free and machined in Michigan.
It leaves a 22-inch barrel at 2,600 fps, the same as our standard AR load, but that is where the similarity ends. The HV bullet's .21 ballistic coefficient carries speed instead of bleeding it: at 300 yards it still holds 1,505 fps and 705 ft-lbs, against 1,195 fps and 445 ft-lbs from the standard load. Nearly seven inches less drop and 250 more ft-lbs, from the same muzzle velocity. The full drop chart is below.

Read this before you order: this is a long round. At a 2.430" overall length it will not fit most factory magazines, which are built to a standard 2.250". It is made to be single fed, which is exactly how a single shot rifle works, and it will also single feed into most bolt actions and AR platforms.
Two ways around the magazine: Ruger American owners can run it straight from the magazine with our HV Mag System installed. Everyone else who wants a magazine-fed load should shop our standard-length AR load, which feeds factory magazines with no modification.
Savage and Henry owners: we do not recommend this load in Savage (Axis and Apex) or Henry rifles. Their lighter, less consistent firing-pin strikes can fail to ignite the primer in this ammunition. Our 350 Legend S/H load is built around that lighter strike, and it is the one to run in those guns.

Velocity, energy, and trajectory at a 170-yard zero. The 16, 18, 20, and 22-inch velocities are our published figures; 24-inch is estimated at roughly 25 fps per inch. Every barrel here stays above the 1,150 fps and 500 ft-lb expansion window all the way to 300 yards, so the bullet is still opening at the far end of the chart. Figures are for standard conditions; your rifle, your barrel, and the weather will move them.

What is the difference between the HV load and the standard AR load?
Length and aerodynamics, not speed. Both leave a 22-inch barrel at 2,600 fps. The standard load is built to a 2.260" magazine length with a rounded AR-profile bullet and a .15 ballistic coefficient, so it feeds anything. The HV is loaded long at 2.430" with a pointed tip and a .21 ballistic coefficient, so it holds its speed better downrange. At 300 yards the HV is still carrying 1,505 fps and 705 ft-lbs against 1,195 fps and 445 ft-lbs, with about seven inches less drop. If your rifle can single feed, the HV gives you more. If you need to run a magazine, take the standard load.
Will this ammo fit in my magazine?
Most likely not. At 2.430" it is longer than the 2.250" that most factory 350 Legend magazines are built around, which is the whole reason it exists: that extra length is what makes room for the pointed HV tip. Single feed it, install our HV Mag System if you shoot a Ruger American, or choose our standard-length AR load if magazine feeding matters more to you than trajectory.
What is the effective range of the 350 Legend HV?
This load leaves a 22-inch barrel at 2,600 fps. From a 170-yard zero the drop chart above puts it two inches low at 200 yards and about 17 inches low at 300, still carrying over 700 ft-lbs. Every barrel length in the chart stays inside the 1,150 fps and 500 ft-lb expansion window all the way to 300 yards, which is what separates this load from a standard 350 Legend at distance. Most hunters will find their own accuracy, not the bullet, is the limit.
Can I hunt with this in a lead-free zone?
Yes. There is no lead anywhere in this bullet, so it clears non-lead requirements, including on federal land. Nothing about the trajectory or the terminal performance was given up to get there.
What does solid copper give me that a lead-core bullet does not?
Consistency. A lead core can separate from its jacket, so the bullet either comes apart early or slips through without doing much, which is where the 350 Legend earned its blood-trail reputation. Ours is one piece of copper. It opens, it stays one piece, and it puts a similar wound channel through a deer up close as it does out at 250. It also keeps expanding down to 1,150 fps, which is why it still works at the far end of the chart.

Tipped HV Drives Hard (Update)
If you can add the following to my prior review would probably be best. Three more deer down, including an old buck with doe combo (in single load fashion). 4 shots on game, first was the only non pass through. The last three all ran less than 40 yards, with 1 DRT. The two runners had an impressive red carpet with traditional (broadside/vital) shot placement. Worked well enough that I ended up getting buddy some 450 ammo to try out. This ammo has my full confidence for any whitetail shot within 150 yards.

Very Effective
Three shots in the same day. One doe at 80 yards. One doe at 60 yards. One 200-pound boar at 75 yards. All three dropped instantly and stayed down. I know that may not be proof for everyone, but I'm convinced the bullet has great terminal effect.

Tipped HV Drives Hard
I had this ammo in the safe for years prior to using it. Reference to the outcome on deer with 350 legend is Hornaday Custom, hand loaded 125 Stone Hammers, and Barnes. All have been very effective, and I would have trusted all but the Custom ammo (cup and core bullet) with the shot described. My Ruger American is getting box spec speed and making one hole 5 shot groups out to 150 yards. Shot a doe at about 50 yards (elevated, quartering hard towards), bullet went through close sholder and was caught by the hide after going through about 3 ft of deer and far rib. Lungs were jelly and bullet looked like it should based on the images of yardage based expansion. She ran about 50 yards and piled up, but minimal blood trail with a high cavity shot (it was all inside). Great result and worked effectively, I will continue to use this load for the remainder of the session.

Shot a buck this year at around 125yds with this ammo out of my CVA Scout. Deer ran about 60yds and left a good blood trail. Compared to Hornady ammo I shot a doe with at around 90yds last year, this ammo far exceeded the exit hole size and left a way better blood trail.

This is an amazing cartridge. My first experience with a straightwall rifle cartridge, but may be quickly becoming my favorite cartridge for whitetail deer. I have put up multiple groups under 3/4" and have had more than one group that just made a ragged single hole all at 100 yards out of a factory Tikka T3X with a Leupold scope. If you replace your Tikka T3X magazine with a Mountain Tactical magazine for the 350 Legend you can use the HV ammo without any issues due to the COAL going up to 2.60 inches and this cartridge is @ 2.45 inches. I have gotten very consistent groups and velocity (measured with a Athlon Rangecraft velocity pro) out of the 50-60 rounds I have run through the gun. The consistency has been better than any other brand of 350 Legend ammo I have tried, which has been all of the popular brands and a few customs (which I won't name). You can't go wrong with this ammo and am looking forward to running more of it down range.

Paired with the muzzle break, grouped well at the range. Shot a buck at about 40 yards, Heart Shot with exit. Appeared to have some bone spin off and hit gut too, this little round did a number on him. Deer did somehow manage to go 150 yards but I had a pretty good blood trail to work with even with some rain. Happy with the round so far, eager to see when it does on some more.

This is hands down the best grouping 350 legend ammo I have used so far! I’ve tried some Winchester, hornady, and federal but couldn’t get any groups smaller than 4” or so. I started to think I had a lemon gun then I tried these bullets! All the bullets holes were touching each other, sub MOA group. It’s a shame the that they are too long to run in my AR mag but with the accuracy of these bullets one shot should be plenty.
